Enough to make people switch or consider a different red in addition? We bet to the bottom of it by testing the Milwaukee 2953 impact driver along side it as well as the new models from Kreg and Dong Cheng. Dong Cheng
DCPL208 Impact Driver
$79.00
Best Performance Per Dollar - Smallest tool at 4.2 inches, delivered 147 ft-lbs in reverse test, performed like Craftsman with 4A battery while using 2A pack. Comes with two 2A batteries. Acts more like tiny impact wrench with slower driving speed of 15.3 seconds. Up to 5-year warranty on tool, 3-year on battery.
Craftsman
CMCF811 V20 Impact Driver Kit
$79.00
Best Value - Rated 175 ft-lbs but achieved only 81% of claimed torque (135-141 ft-lbs actual). Kit includes 2A battery and charger. 5+ inches long, no modes just trigger control. Driving speed of 10.2 seconds. 'If you're in the V20 line from Craftsman, I'd buy this. It's both their highest performing and cheapest impact driver right now.'
Milwaukee
M18 Gen 4 Impact Driver
Reference tool for comparison. Achieved 157 ft-lbs with 2A battery, 198 ft-lbs with larger pack. Driving speed of 5.03 seconds - half the time of Craftsman. 4.4-4.5 inches long. Nearly hit its 167 ft-lb rating. About $100 more than Craftsman as bare tool.
Kreg
Ionic Drive Impact Driver
$119.00
Poor value at $119 bare tool plus $85 for 2A battery. Rated highest at 183 ft-lbs but only achieved 78% of claim (96-122 ft-lbs actual). 4.69 inches long. Driving speed of 13.1 seconds. Major flaw: collet bounces and unlocks bits during use. 'It's the type of thing that should just not get past initial QC checks.'
